“I joined the Akilah team because I come from an area where education is the only way to survive the harsh conditions of living. Lack of education is a major reason why we had the worst genocide here in Rwanda and why we still experience insecurities, health risks, and poverty. Women and girls are the most severely affected by these conditions because they face the biggest obstacles to getting an education. I believe education is the only way to end extreme poverty and uproot ignorance and violence. By educating women, we help all Rwandans.”
