Dec. 24, 2008 — The Akilah Institute site is in Bugesera District. Located on Lake Cyohoha, it’s not too far from the border with Burundi. There’s not much on Lake Cyohoha, except for small villages and farmers. It’s a rural area right now but the new international airport will be constructed in this district so there will be a great deal of development in the coming years. Placide Magambo is a trusted advisor in Kigali. I have known him since I first went to Rwanda in 2006. His input has been invaluable throughout the process of finding this beautiful piece of land.

This area by the lake will be gorgeous once it is cleared up a bit. Right now, local farmers are using it as a place to graze and water their cattle.
Thinking about all that needs to be done out here... clearing out some of these reeds will give us a better view of the lake.
